Samsung’s smart monitors combine the software of a smart TV with the design of a desktop monitor, and now there’s a pile of new models. Samsung has revealed updated versions of the Smart Monitor M8 and M7, as well as an all-new M9 monitor with a QD-OLED panel.

Meanwhile, there are updated versions of the Smart Monitor M8 and Smart Monitor M7. They also have 32-inch 4K screens, but with VA panels instead of QD-OLED, and they both max out at 60Hz. There are a few minor differences between the two models, like the M7 only having HDR10 while the M8 has HDR10+ certification.

All of Samsung’s Smart Monitors use the same Tizen OS software as the company’s smart TVs, giving you built-in access to Netflix, Disney+, YouTube, SmartThings, cloud gaming, and other features without a connected input device. They can act as a USB-C monitor hub for a connected PC, or you can just use the HDMI inputs.

Samsung is promising “up to seven years of One UI Tizen upgrades for the Smart Monitor lineup,” so the new models should continue receiving new features and bug fixes until sometime around 2032. You can set them up without internet access though, which turns off most of the smart TV-like features. I have a Samsung Odyssey gaming monitor with the same Tizen software, and it’s always connected to a computer, so I never set up the smart features with a network connection.

Pricing and Availability

The Smart Monitor M9 is available for pre-order on Samsung’s online store, and it costs $1,600. You can also pre-order the mid-range Smart Monitor M8 for $700. The Smart Monitor M7 is available in a 32-inch size for $400, or a 43-inch size for $500.
