While space fans can already get a view of the Earth from space and much more for free with NASA's apps, being available right inside the Netflix app makes things a bit more convenient. That's because you likely already have Netflix installed on your phone, tablet, laptop, and smart TV.

According to NASA, you'll be able to see endless live programming from NASA, including live streams of rocket launches, breathtaking views, astronaut spacewalks, the International Space Station, and other NASA mission coverage. Other programming includes original documentaries and series focused on space exploration. I don't know about you, but those live rocket launches sound like something worth watching.

Here's what a Netflix spokesperson had to say: "Together, we're committed to a Golden Age of Innovation and Exploration—inspiring new generations—right from the comfort of their couch or in the palm of their hand from their phone."

The press release went on to mention how Netflix has nearly 700 million subscribers around the globe, and this new partnership will allow NASA's tireless work in the science and exploration fields to become even more accessible to millions of people. The hope is that it'll increase engagement and excitement about space and inspire future generations about the universe beyond our physical world.

As a reminder, NASA+ is already completely free and ad-free, so if you're currently using a Netflix basic plan with ads, you have other options. But for everyone else, this is a nice way to get more content on your screen without downloading another app.

So, when will you be able to see mind-boggling views of the Earth from the ISS and NASA+ on Netflix? Well, the company didn't share an exact date, but said that it'll unveil additional programming, schedules, and content timelines ahead of the launch later this summer.
