When It Comes to Privacy-Focused Web Browsers, What’s Your Go-to Choice and Why?

I've used Chrome and Firefox for years, but now I want a browser that isn't trying to track my every move.

Which Web Search Engine Do You Prefer?

Until recently, I used DuckDuckGo for personal web searches and Google for professional research, thinking Google was more thorough and up-to-date. Its automatic AI summaries started driving me up the wall, though, so I've switched over to DDG for almost all my web searches, and only fall back on Google if I can't find what I'm looking for. What search engine(s) do you use and why?

Which App Went Downhill the Most?

It's uncommon for an app to stay the same, assuming the developer is still active. Apps are often updated to add new features, refresh the design, and provide support for newer operating systems. But sometimes these updates aren't well received, and a once great app can go downhill. Of all the apps you've ever used, which started out good but ended up bad?

What's a Browser Shortcut Everyone Should Know?

Web browsers have evolved to become very powerful over the years, including in the realm of shortcuts. My favorite I've been surprised more people don't know about is that, with a mouse, you can middle-click a link to open it in a new tab. What shortcut do you think everyone here should know?

RSS (Real Simple Syndication) is one of the oldest tools we have for reading blog posts, news articles, and other articles. Despite its simplicity, it's effectively been replaced by social media and their built-in feeds. Are you still using RSS feeds in 2025? If so, what app do you use?

What's an App You Deleted and Don't Miss?

Some apps stick around on our phones forever because they are fundamental and always useful, while others we use for a while and then ditch completely. I'm interested in that latter group. Name an app that you once used, but then uninstalled and realized your life was better without it.

What Are Your Favorite Freeware Windows Apps?

What are your top free apps for Windows? Here are some of mine: Everything: File searching for my PC. So fast, it's mind-blowing. Full wildcard searches, extensions, date, and more. PeaZip: Great zip app and easy operation from the Windows context menu. PDF24: If you're not using this to do all your PDF work, you're missing out. FastStone Image Viewer: Best and fastest image viewer with basic image editing. It's great and I've used it for many years as a graphics designer and photographer.

Do You Use an Alternative to Facebook?

Lately, FB has increased the number of ads in notifications, as well as seemingly random suggestions of people I might be interested in becoming friends with. I wonder if other people are finding these annoyances–among others–and what they're using for alternatives.

Do You Use Proprietary Software on Your Linux Systems?

Depending on what your philosophy toward licensing is, you may pay more or less attention to whether a given software is proprietary or open source. On Linux, some distros don't come with any proprietary software installed or even available in their default repositories. In my experience, it's difficult to do much of what I need to do while totally avoiding closed-source software. What about you?
