If you could go back, would you still buy a curved ultrawide monitor for your Windows setup? What do you wish you knew before you bought one?

A search turns up, "Ultrawide monitor sizes typically range from 29 to 49 inches diagonally, with the most common size being 34 inches."
Mine is 32 inches wide; it replaced a 24 inch wide monitor. I like it because I can place a two 96 column by 30 row terminals next to my 172 column wide browser window and still read contents of each window clearly. Would I willingly go back to the 24 inch monitor? I actually still use one on one of my other systems.

Having a dual GPU output I have recently replaced my two Samsung 27" flat screens with a pair of Samsung 34" curved monitors. I had been looking at these at a retail outlet cost approx. $250.00 CDN. I found them at a sale price of $168.00 CDN so I jumped in. The two set up edge to edge create quite a "wrap-around" visual experience. I am willing to put up with the slightly degraded image quality for this visual (almost) "Wrap Around" experience. One does have to turn one's head from side to side!

I purchased a Samsung 49' curved monitor about 18 months ago, replacing dual 24" Asus monitors. I thoroughly enjoy working with the curved monitor. Thee amount of desktop is great. I don't save anything to my desktop, there are no icons or shortcuts saved. Just beautiful wallpapers of scenery . Playing games using the full display is fantastic, even not going full screen i am still able to open multiple items at one time and display them in their entirety. No regrets for making that purchase.

I bought curved 45" inch OLED monitor for games about a year ago. My only regret is that it actually has too much curvature. 800R is a bit too much. Do I regret the purchase? NO! I love the monitor for gaming, The size allows me to sit back 6-8 feet from the monitor and see everything. I might be replacing it with an adjustable curve monitor later this year. After LG releases their new adjustable 5k2k Monitor.

I’ve realized I much prefer using two 16:9 monitors on either side of my laptop screen. The main reason is that I rely almost entirely on the laptop’s built-in keyboard, trackpad, and screen. An external keyboard makes me feel oddly disconnected—like I’m no longer fully in touch or in control. And I genuinely dislike using a mouse. After typing, I instinctively reach for the trackpad—then remember the mouse exists. Cue the awkward pause while I scan the desk, trying to locate it somewhere off to the side. It completely breaks the flow. My trackpad, on the other hand, never plays hide and seek.

When I position a large ultrawide above the laptop, it disrupts my natural flow. I lose the intuitive ‘throw’ of the cursor straight into the menu bar of my internal screen (macOS UI guidelines back me up here). With a horizontal layout of three displays, I get the best of both worlds:

Every menu bar sits right where you’d expect—at the top—making them easy to hit without fine cursor control.All screens stay at a comfortable height, ideally at or just below eye level, not looming above the horizon.The laptop remains centered, so I can use the built-in keyboard and trackpad comfortably, without twisting sideways to work around a single ultrawide.

At the office, I sit between two ultrawide monitors on adjacent desks. It works surprisingly well, apart from the occasional expedition to find my cursor in all that horizontal estate.

I'm the same, but different. I have two 26" 1080 monitors, 1 centered, 1 to the right of that, and my 14" laptop to the left. I never did get the hang of using a laptop keyboard/trackpad (after decades) as it never felt natural so I use a wireless keyboard & mouse. Different strokes...

I have a middle-of-the-road PC running Win 11, whatever Intel graphics/video chip, and use a USB-C hub for connecting the additional monitors and other stuff. The stock system will only support 1-4K, or 2-1080 monitors; for my technical writing work, I don't need high resolution or color accuracy, just a lot of app windows!

I've looked at the ultra-wides over the years and they're just not for me. For the price, I can buy six 1080s, and since monitors for some reason fail frequently for me, the investment isn't worth it.

If the stock system would support 4-1080s, I'd buy two more today!
